Below is a summary of my upcoming gigs. keep upto date with all my activity on my Facebook Page
GODDEN’S original productions are influenced by the house and electro scenes of the eighties and nineties; none more so than the lead track of this release. “Mono Trigger” pays homage to the iconic Roland 808 drum machine which revolutionised music production and provided the foundation of the classic old school house sound. The driving rhythm and rumbling bassline combine to create a dramatic and urgent slice of dance music.
“Double Dropped” layers haunting synths over a dynamic rhythm, resulting in an engaging, cinematic, instrumental track.
The single is out now on Death Drop Records and is available to download from iTunes Store and Amazon.
As the dust settles on another epic New Year’s Eve, time to take stock of the achievements of the last 12 months:
It is safe to say that 2014 was as eventful a year as I have had since I embarked on this musical journey.
It would be exhausting for all of us if I ran through the whole 12 months, so I’ll keep it concise:
So, highlights, in no particular order:
A load of incredible gigs:-
Two incredible Masked Balls, rocking out with Rob Da Bank in Spring, playing the main stage at Halloween!
Live at Heartlands sharing a bill with Boomtown Rats and Peter Hook
Playing with Freerange DJs and Cakeboy in November – really not worthy!
2 festivals in one weekend
A sublime private function on a lawn over-looking the Cornish coast
And a range of great nights in Penzance, Truro, Falmouth and everywhere else!
Releasing my debut single in December – very proud of this! Thanks to Mawgan and Angela, without whom..etc. See separate post for full details.
Other musical highlights NOT directly DJ related:
Launching Penwith Radio on FM across West Cornwall
Meeting the legend Jay, AKA Beans On Toast at Boardmasters, and John “Reverend” McClure and John Robb at Beautiful Days
Performing with my good friends The Surgeons at their farewell gig.
It was such an amazing year that there are inevitably many other highlights that I have neglected.
You get the idea!
A quiet start to the year (not unwelcome!) probably won’t last long. 2015 promises to be challenging, on a professional and personal level. But every challenge offers a new opportunity, so BRING IT ON!
See you o n a dancefloor along the way xx
2014 is turning out to be another successful year in this musical journey. The summer (and we have been lucky enough to have a real summer this year) has seen me playing at some of the best parties in the South West. After a hectic few weeks, a chance to take stock.
The summer party season got underway on a sun-drenched Porthleven cliff top with the now-legendary Masked Ball. Sharing a bill with some of tbhe biggest names in dance, including Groove Armada and Rob Da Bank, was brilliant, and a high-octane set seemed to hit the spot in the Alive tent. You can see a snippet of the set here.
The festival season was in full flow by the time Holifair and Leopallooza coincided in the first week of August. As these are probably my two favourite Cornish Festivals, I couldn’t turn either down! Cue pretty full-on weekend, playing Holifair on Friday and two sets at Leopallooza on the Saturday.
The local festivals of Lafrowda and Golowan threw up a couple of cracking nights too, notably a crazy Tuesday in St Just! Add regular nights at the Zero Lounge in Penzance, and fun nights playing back to back with my good friend Frank “KBS” Gane in Truro and the summer is complete!……or is it???
Thanks to everyone who’s been there along the way – see you on a dancefloor soon!

Sitting here as the windows are being subjected to the barrage of yet another fierce winter storm, Summer seems an awfully long way off. But we must have faith in predictions of the hottest summer on record (propaganda to appease the flood-stricken?) and look forward to the season when the days are longer and tents aren’t just for refugees.
Summer is looking busy already, with several party bookings already confirmed. But Summer = festivals and Jan / Feb = application time. Like may other DJs I have been busy filling in on-line forms and hopefully emailing promoters and organisers. Nothing to report yet though.
I can confirm that I will be playing at my 5th consecutive Masked Ball in Porthleven in May. Early Bird tickets are now gone, and the event, headlined by Groove Armada, is heading for another sell-out. www.maskedball.net for tickets and info.
Although Jan and Feb are predictably quiet, I have been keeping busy. Not only with gigs, but also with a foray into the world of blogging. I am contributing a monthly missive to www.littlesouth.com on the nightlife scene in the SW – have a read!
Also been working on some of my own productions – hopefully 2014 will see my debut release – plus cultivating a couple of projects for later in the year – watch this space for details as and when.
I will sign off with significant dates in the next month:
w/e 21st Feb – new blog posted at www.littlesouth.com/features
Sat 22nd Feb – GIG: Zero Lounge Penzance 10pm – 2am
Mon 24th Feb – New Podcast released for Littlesouth
Sat 8th March – GIG: Zero Lounge Penzance 10pm – 2am
Sat 15th March – GIG: Star Inn St Just 9pm – late
‘Til next time, stay safe and dry! x
As I haven’t posted on here for so long, you’d be forgiven for thinking I haven’t been up to much on the DJ front. Actually this couldn’t be further from the truth – as this has been a pretty busy period with some great times. So forgive my silence on here, and this extended post, and try to believe me when I say that I will update this blog every month this year!! (No, really!)
I can’t let the changing of the calendar pass without reviewing the past year. The year started quietly enough, with notable exception the MOJO festival in Falmouth (where I got to see Public Service Broadcasting) in February.
May saw the sun shine on the best Masked Ball yet. It was a privilege to play on the same bill as TEED, Jack Beats and to witness the skills of the brilliant DJ Yoda. But the highlight for me was to play as the sun went down on a very chilled Sunday – and the brilliant Daft Punk tribute from Introducing that followed it. Special memories.
After that the highlights come thick and fast – the next being my second trip to play in Bristol in June. Playing on the supporting bill for D’n’B heads Pyramid, my hour long set became two and a half hours in a cage in the underground venue Timbuk2. A great night which has given me a taste for playing in the big city!
June was also notable for the visit of The Orb to these parts – great night in St Ives and a pleasure to meet Alex P. – and a good night at Eden where the Kaiser Chiefs were almost outshone by Deap Vally and Tom Tom Club.
July unexpectedly spawned one of the best gig memories. On Lafrowda Eve in St Just I decided to play a few tunes while people went home after the live music. No-one expected it to go crazy (including me!) but the whole town square was jumping, stage invaded and the night is still talked about to this day.
The first weekend of August saw a return to the Wyldes of North Cornwall for the brilliant Leopallooza Festival. Once again scheduled to coincide with the headline act, and again turned an empty tent into a bouncing party which in the words of the promoter “would have gone on all night if I hadn’t had a band to get on!”
Continuing the monthly highlights, for the second time in 3 years I performed at the BPM show at the NEC Birmingham, this time at the invitation of Virtual DJ. Great show – met up with the inspirational YouTube DJ Tutor Jonathan Lewis – and squeezed in a trip to Gatecrasher too.
Monsoon-like conditions couldn’t dampen the spirits at the best party in the SW, the Masked Ball which returned for an unforgettable Halloween. Could pick any highlight from: opening the main stage, meeting Leftfield, meeting and having the privilege of watching Sister Bliss of Faithless on the decks, playing to a packed out big top or unexpectedly closing the same stage later on. A truly epic night.
Meanwhile, other gigs were picking up, with a regular slot at the Zero Lounge in Penzance and a whole host of private events leading to a particularly busy end to 2013; all bookended by NYE in The Star Inn in St Just – another great night in the unlikeliest place, and another special memory to end the year.
And so to 2014 – top that eh? I’ll give it my best for sure!
Back soon with a look forward to the year ahead.
See you on the dancefloor!
As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, the good news is that the partying goes on…..
Next stop for the GODDEN “Musical Time Machine” is the party of the year and the “Biggest Halloween Party in the UK” – the already legendary Masked Ball. Check out the line-up below and get yourself over to www.maskedball.net for tickets
I am delighted to confirm that I will be seeing in the New Year again on home turf – brace yourself for another epic NYE at The Star Inn St Just. If you can’t wait that long, I’ll be playing a warm-up on Nov 23rd.
Add to that upcoming dates at the brilliant Zero Lounge in Penzance and various parties and I really don’t think I’ll have a chance to get cold!!
A quick glance at the site stats has alerted me to the fact that there are lots of new visitors to these fine pages of late.If you are a newcomer, allow me to bring you up to speed:
I am a digital / laptop DJ from the farthest West of Cornwall. I have been DJing publicly for about 4 years. In that time I’ve played at some of the biggest and best events in the SW, including Boardmasters, Leopalooza, and Masked Balls, as well as many venues, from house parties to beaches to clubs. I also DJ private events of all kinds, and have played in Bristol, Birmingham and Northampton.
I am an experienced promoter and began putting on events at university more-years-ago-than-I-care-to-admit. More recently I have been heavily involved in running a local community festival.
I hope that gives you a brief introduction and will encourage you to explore these pages for latest mixes, upcoming appearances and even more about me! If you are here because you’ve enjoyed a set, please be good enough to post a suitably positive comment on my “Testimonials” page.
